Queenstown delivered a championship finish as the 2026 BMW Golf Cup National Final brought together top amateur BMW owners from Australia and New Zealand for a one‑day tournament combining competition, hospitality and alpine scenery.
Finalists earned their place through dealership qualifiers across both countries, arriving at Millbrook Golf Resort for an event that showcased world‑class golf and the exclusive experiences synonymous with BMW. The National Final determined the players who will now advance to the BMW Golf Cup World Final, held at Fancourt in South Africa, where they will represent Australia and New Zealand on the global stage.
Set against the dramatic rise of The Remarkables and the glassy expanse of Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown offered a backdrop that elevated every moment of the National Final. Millbrook Golf Resort anchored the event, while finalists and guests enjoyed a curated programme highlighting the region’s premium hospitality.
A long lunch at Ayrburn showcased Queenstown’s thriving food scene, followed by an evening at Peregrine Wines, where architecture and landscape merge into a striking Central Otago setting. The destination reinforced its reputation as one of the Southern Hemisphere’s premier golf‑lifestyle regions.
Australian pro Nick O’Hern opened the day with a course briefing, giving finalists a chance to refine their strategy before heading out for the one‑day National Final, played in Stableford format across two of Queenstown’s most celebrated courses.
The Women’s Final took place on Millbrook Coronet 18 Course, a championship layout known for its strategic bunkering, rolling fairways and sweeping alpine backdrop.
The Men’s Final unfolded at Jack’s Point, where fairways run along the edge of Lake Wakatipu and beneath the dramatic rise of The Remarkables — a setting that demands precision and rewards nerve.
Adding an extra layer of excitement, players also had the chance to win a standout prize: a BMW iX3, offered as a six‑month vehicle loan for any competitor who made a hole‑in‑one on the designated par‑3. No aces were recorded, but the prize kept tension high throughout the round.
Across both venues, finalists delivered strong scoring, composure and sportsmanship. Overall it was a fitting showcase for the BMW Golf Cup’s premier amateur event.
The day concluded at Peregrine Wines, where finalists gathered for an evening of celebration. Winners were crowned and officially invited to represent Australia and New Zealand at the upcoming BMW Golf Cup World Final.
BMW Australia’s General Manager of Marketing, Alex McLean, reflected on the spirit of the event, noting that the BMW Golf Cup is as much about community and shared passion as it is about competition.
Fact: Women’s Golf Magazine has long admired BMW’s commitment to our sport. Their events champion female participation, and their support of elite Australian golfing talent such as Minjee Lee and Grace Kim is equally commendable.
