The New Dress Code

By Scarlett Thomas

Street Style Takes a Swing at the Fairway

The fairway has officially left the clubhouse. This season, golf fashion is borrowing cues from every corner of the sporting world, creating a fresh aesthetic that feels equal parts athletic, effortless and street-smart. It’s a season where the boundaries between sports continue to blur, drawing influence from the courts, the track, the studio and the street. The result is a new kind of golf wardrobe, one that values versatility as much as performance. Less country club, more city streets. Less about following tradition, more about rewriting the dress code. This winter, golf style isn't staying in its lane; it's taking inspiration from every sport worth watching.

Layer Player

This season, jackets are making a statement — and there's no room for playing it safe. Silhouettes fall firmly into two camps: oversized and borrowed-from-the-boys, or sleek, sculpted and body-skimming. Bomber jackets bring a dose of streetwear attitude, while high necklines and zip-front designs nod to the performance roots of the game.

Leg Work

This season, comfort takes the lead. From slouchy track pants paired with high-performance fitted tops to leggings and oversized outerwear, golf's newest trouser silhouettes balance function with effortless style. Technical fabrics deliver warmth without bulk, while relaxed cuts bring an easy, off-duty feel to the green. We're also welcoming back the fitted ankle track pant, complete with its signature cuffed hem — a sporty staple that feels fresh.

Tee Time

If there's one styling trick defining golf fashion this season, it's layering. Relaxed proportions and basketball-inspired jerseys bring a fresh energy to the fairway, while elevated base layers, mock necks and performance fabrics ensure functionality remains at the core. The magic happens in the mix: fitted long sleeves worn beneath oversized tees, sleek base layers paired with loose jerseys, and streamlined singlets layered over long-sleeve tops. It's a look that feels considered without trying too hard, balancing comfort, function and attitude in equal measure.

Sole Purpose

Footwear is stepping into a new era, where fashion and function are no longer competing priorities. Ballet-inspired silhouettes are being reimagined through a performance lens, offering a glove-like fit that moves effortlessly from the fairway to everyday life. At the same time, classic sneakers continue their reign, with heritage styles from New Balance, Nike and Adidas bringing a streetwear sensibility to the course.

Extra Credit

Accessories are taking a darker turn this season, adding an edge to even the most classic golf looks. Rich leather finishes, muted patterns and understated details replace bright pops of colour, creating a more refined, fashion-forward aesthetic.
